Job Description:
The Account Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and implementing sales activities for key strategic accounts within an assigned region.
The role involves supporting direct sales, managing sales representatives and distribution channels, providing design-in support, developing new business opportunities, and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers.
The primary objective is to increase sales and profitability while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. The Account Manager serves as a primary customer contact, responsible for developing new business, maintaining market share, responding to customer inquiries, and resolving customer issues.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and implement sales strategies based on market conditions and customer requirements.
- Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and prospective customers.
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Present technical product information to current and prospective customers.
- Coordinate customer project requirements and provide product and delivery information.
- Support product approvals, engineering specifications, and design-win opportunities.
- Develop solutions to customer issues while balancing customer and company objectives.
- Provide management with sales data, market information, competitive insights, and future opportunities.
- Collaborate with design engineers, technical service, manufacturing teams, distributors, and sales representatives.
- Ensure timely follow-up on customer issues, action items, and projects.
- Prepare sales forecasts, monthly reports, customer correspondence, and sales expansion updates.
- Advise customers and distributors on product availability and provide quotations in accordance with company pricing policies.
- Report customer activities, meetings, and communications to management.
- Develop relationships with international teams and global business counterparts to support broader business opportunities.
- Provide product and sales training to employees, customers, distributors, and sales representatives.
- Participate in sales and product presentations.
- Support new product introductions, design-in initiatives, and related marketing activities.
- Meet established sales targets and financial objectives.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of electronic engineering principles related to OEM products.
- Understanding of sales techniques, international business, and project management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional and courteous customer-facing communication.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
Education & Experience:
- College degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of applicable sales experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for customer visits.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position may supervise support staff and participate in activities including interviewing, hiring, training, addressing employee concerns, and resolving workplace issues.
The Account Manager is also expected to support organizational corporate responsibility initiatives and follow applicable company policies and procedures.
