About the Opportunity:
A global aerospace engine component manufacturer is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead its investment casting operations in Tampa, Florida.
The organization produces critical turbine components for the aerospace, energy, and defense industries. The facility is experiencing continued growth driven by new product approvals, capacity expansion, automation, and digital manufacturing initiatives.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for the site's engineering organization and overall engineering strategy.
What You'll Do:
- Lead site engineering across production and process engineering, tooling, dimensional/layout engineering, NPI, and PMA programs.
- Develop and execute engineering strategies supporting capacity growth, yield improvement, and customer commitments.
- Improve yield and reduce scrap and rework across core, wax, shell, casting, and post-cast operations.
- Lead automation and digital manufacturing initiatives, including robotics, CNC integration, and PLM/digital-thread implementation.
- Manage engineering priorities, resources, and capital projects.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering organization of approximately 40 employees.
- Mentor engineering managers and team members while supporting succession planning and leadership development.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, EHS, customers, and regulatory stakeholders on technical and compliance matters.
- Support compliance with applicable aerospace quality and export-control requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience in aerospace or industrial gas turbine manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with aerospace investment casting of superalloy turbine components.
- Strong knowledge of equiaxed, directional solidification (DS), and single-crystal (SX) casting.
- Experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams of managers, engineers, and technicians.
- Demonstrated success delivering capital, automation, or manufacturing technology projects with measurable results.
- Must be a U.S. person (citizen, permanent resident, or asylee/refugee) due to export-control requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Teamcenter, Siemens NX, SPC, or similar digital manufacturing tools.
- Background in NPI, PMA programs, or production scale-ups.
- Advanced degree in Engineering or Engineering Management.
